Burr Mill and Feed grinder are just terms. The term "Burrs" or "Buhrs" refers to steel/iron plates or cones that are used to grind up a product. This is in contrast to the hammers in a hammermill. Sometimes the stones in a stone gristmill are referred to as Buhr stones. A lot of people are confused by "gristmill" and "feed grinder" and "Burr Mill".

There was also a Type A and a type D and they came in 6, 8 and 10 inch size. The B is designed to grind ear corn but will also grind shell corn or small grain.

Simply put, if you want to have the option of a super fine flour, then a burr grinding mill is a good choice. An impact mill, although will get you fine flour, won't produce flour that is super fine.
